Neues Format?

Sam Raimi verfilmt derzeit für Disney das Wizard of Oz-Prequel OZ: The great and powerful, das ab dem 07.

We’re doing the same thing as the first Wizard of Oz, we’re making it black and white in the beginning and then (it gets) colorful when we enter the Land of Oz. It’s also going to be a 3D movie; I’m so excited about that. It’s going to add a whole new level to the awesomeness of Oz.

Zudem gibt es eine erste Synopsis für OZ: The great and powerful:

Oz The Great and Powerful imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

Terry [Rossio] is writing it and he’s working incredibly hard and he did a draft and rethought it all and started working on it again. You want to make sure you are asking the audience to come back to see an exciting adventure and it has to reach that caliber, and if not there’s no reason to do it. I know Johnny feels the same way: He needs to see a script, but he would be happy — if it’s the right script — to put that hat and sword back on.

Worthington sagt dazu:

I’m doing a thing called Thunder Run later on in the year, which if it works it’s very ambitious. It’s based on an actual case where 300 tanks went into Baghdad. You can’t do that for real, it costs way too much money and setup time to reset 300 tanks. How we’re doing it is a bit like a cross between Avatar and Tron, a mo-cap kind of world, which is interesting. They’ve shown me some designs and they’ve shown me their little practice on it, but if they pull it off it’s certainly gonna be a different type of film.
